From what I see posted here, everything above sounds completely plausible. The 32 spec. theory really strikes me the most. The 30-30 will fit, function and fire in a 32 spec. with no problems and as I recall the 32 spec. used a 1-16" twist which would definitely keyhole a 30-30 bullet. I'd have a chamber cast made and then you'll know for sure. Good luck !!! HD1
