Not to disagree with Nick, but one thing often overlooked when discussing gun strength is that the bigger the cartridge, the less barrel metal remains after they make the hole.
Guns have a safety margin built into their design. Cartridges have a safety margin built into their load specs. You might get away with eating into one margin or the other - but when you erase some of BOTH, you are not just walking on thin ice, you are jumping.
