What game to shoot?

Hey everyone I now have my 308 blaser on order, I'm looking forward to it arriving. I've also booked my week away in Africa, below is the game that I plan to shoot while away. In your opinion is anything missing, that I should certainly have the experience of shooting? I realise it's ones personal point of view but I was still keen to canvass a few opinions. My hunt list for the week so far is:

Trophies
Blesbuck $350
Warthog $350
Impala $300
Kudu $1 800
Blue Wildebeest $850
Zebra $900

Thanks.

Looks like a good starter list. Don't know where you're going, but if Klipspringer is available, it is a neat little trophy that usually isn't too expensive. As to that rifle practice, I suggest that most of it be done off sticks, as that is very likely how you'll be shooting.

Yes, a pretty neat trophy. I've often heard them referred to locally as terrorists. I don't understand what was meant by K-9s-- identification code? Also, not sure, but I think that you may have to have a special permit to import them into the US, available, but needed. I've shot them, but never brought one home. Never paid a trophy fee for them, either. Locals just wanted them terminated! Enjoy your trip. You are aware that you will be returning, aren't you? Can't go once!

Duikers and steenbok are also great trophies, hard to get a shot at the little buggers, too. Plus, trophy fees for them aren't too bad. On my first trip to SA my PH and I were climbing a hill when he suddenly stopped and said "There's a good common reed buck, better take him!" I declined, it was the only one I've ever seen in my three trips to Africa...

Another suggestion, get off the bench and start shooting at targets off of shooting sticks. I promise it will make a huge difference in your accuracy with game.

Have a great trip, it'll change your life!

Free advice, worth what it cost

I love both the 308 (in the US) & the Blaser, esp the multiple bbl option. However with the short action of the 308, does that limit all other bbl's, to be short action as well? I know there is a # limit on guns brought so versatility would be important & I would definitely want a shotgun to do some bird hunting while there. MIGHT a 30-06 on the low end for the blaser be an option with another much larger caliber in another bbl for the same rifle? Like 30-06/ 300 wm, 30-06/ 338/, 30-06/ 375, make sense? Never been & likely never will but fantasized about often. My fantasy destinations are leaning towards S. America for red stag/ sheep/ crazy bird hunting & trophy trout fly fishing. New Zealand may not have the birds, but they do speak English & I have relatives there. A buddy that went to Africa, yes I guess it is addictive as he keeps going back. The case of worms he got on one trip was a bit of a turn off.

I would opt for premium bullets in the 165 grn bullet weight and switch to the 180's on kudu, wildebeest etc.

Why so much for a kudu? Where are you hunting that it costs so much for a kudu? I never paid over 1100 dollars and that kudu was a 58.5 incher in South Africa.

How many days is your hunt, Smudge? That's a good list if animals. I don't see gemsbok there, and maybe they don't get your ticker going, but you'll probably see a lot, and they are a pretty animal.

I don't think the kudu price is high compared to the two places I've been. And, many places are adding a hefty premium for any animal over 55".

Ditto to the comments on the baboon.
