I will be buying a Tikka T3 Lite soon fitted with a Leupold VX-1 3-9x40 scope and have been told Leupold mounts dont fit these rifles and told that Burris or Sako mounts should be used.
Who has used Burris mounts and what do you think of them?

I have Burris mounts/rings on a Marlin 45-70 and they work great under heavy recoil!
I was wondering the same question myself. But doesn't the Tikka T3 come with rings?? I heard Burris mounts work on the Tikka. Does anyone know which ones(signature rings) are the right ones to mount a 3-9x40 scope?

Depending where you live, ie state, your main gun shop should be able to help you out. Have not used burris mnts, but have heard nothing but good reports. I don't know who imports them to Australia though.

Does anyone know which ones(signature rings) are the right ones to mount a 3-9x40 scope? I use signature rings as they have a plastic sleeve inside the ring which assists in aligning the scope without undue pressure on the scope tube and with these rings there will not be any marks left on the scope tube!

I rang a few times and it rang out but i managed to get a hold of them finally. Went over there a couple of weeks back on a weekday and they were flat out and they have a load of stuff in that shop.

T3's sold in the US come with rings. They are also drilled and tapped for weaver type bases.

The Burris Signature ringsets are one of the best going, I have them on both my .22 Annie BR rifle and also my .222 T3 Tikka.
With a large dia Obj scope sitting high on the .22 to clear the barrel plus the low velocity ammo used make for a huge difference in the bore line and line of sight, complicated with sometimes limited windage & elevation found on many scopes make finding zero virtually without touching the scopes adjustments a simple task with the Burris rings.
The Burris Signature rings with the Offset inserts are a pure brilliant design and are made to a very high quality, worth using on any rifle.
The Optilock ringsets for Sako/Tikka are somewhat exe and from what I see while similar in design with the nylon inserts but they don't come with the offset inserts as found in the Burris rings.

Warne makes some real nice rings for the Tikka that grip onto the grooves that are cut in the top of the receiver. They are the ones I have on my Tikka M695 and I like them a lot. Burris also makes the XTB bases for the Tikka. My father in law is using them on his Tikka and I have them on two other rifles. They are built on 1913 rail specs and then you can use whatever rings you want that accept this kind of base. They can be had for about $20.00 from www.SWFA.com . My suggestion is the Warnes that clamp onto the grooved receiver though. This eliminates the use of a base at all since you are essentially using the receiver as a base. Less screws to come lose and you don't have to pay the extra money for a set of bases. You should be able to find them at SWFA also.

Yes those guys are right tikka comes with rings and they are great rings. as for rings with plastic inserts those are a cheap way of trying to not do what really needs to be done. you need to lap your rings in that is the only way to really relieve any undue stress on your tube. Millet makes good rings for tikke they tuck a 40mm scope in really low. as for burris I would not use them I have mounted a lot of scopes and every set of burris rings I have used always leave a lot to be desired.
