I just picked up a Model 92 .357 mag lever action rifle that I'm pretty sure is made by Rossi but it's stamped Interarms. It's a dead ringer for a Rossi. Anybody got any comments about the Interarms Rossi?

Same design...Know they were imported by Garcia and Interarms, may have been a few other importers along the way. Current rifles are a bit differnect, and I can't swear all the parts interchange as I've not tried it (Kind of a union between Rossi/Tarus...they're marked Tarus now).
The older Rossi's are a little rougher on the inside, but it hasn't make it function less reliably...just took awhile to smooth out.

Rossi was the manufacturer of all these Brazillian made 92 copies.
Interarms was one of the importers.
Taurus bought out Rossi, but other than the added safety gadgets the rifles are the same.
They are now being imported by Legacy Sports International, Navy Arms, and EMF.
The Navy Arms and EMF do not have the safety gadgets, the LSI guns do.
I've talked to Mike at M&M Gunsmithing several times. He tells me that all of the guns are pretty much the same no matter who imports them. All of them require fitting of many of the parts, and are not really finished as well as the could be.

Does it have a 16" or 20" barrel? Does it have the Puma medallion on the left side of the receiver?
I have the one with the 16" barrel and John Wayne lever. Sweetest little levergun and I like the medallion.
Oh, the barrel should be stamped Amadeo Rossi S.A. on the left side of the barrel between the rear barrel band and rear sight.

Just picked up a litely used mod. 92, it's marked Interarms - SRC, in .357/38 cal. Looks dirty, but almost like new.
Looking forward to shooting at the range this weekend!

And after firing this little beauty I'm really impressed! :)
5 shots easily into one ragged hole at 50 ft.
I just need to work it more to smooth it out.;)

The EMF M92s now have the goofy safety. Steve Young at www.stevesgunz.com (http://www.stevesgunz.com) has a plug for the hole in the bolt. You just drive out the cross pin, the safety comes off and you replace it with the plug and it's cross pin.

Earlier this week I bought a like new Rossi Model 92 in .357 caliber the rifle is a 1995 Interarms Import with the 20" bbl. Not sure if the rifle had ever been fired before my friend bought the gun from a widow lady.
Went out to shoot the lil rifle and had problems getting the factory .357 flat nose HP ammo to enter the chamber without hanging up. (I did use a loading stick) Seem to me the throat of the chamber needs polishing, other parts of the action could also use some polishig too in order to make the action much smoother.
I'd appreciate feed back from you who have these carbines as to what bullet you are using and the type and weight of powder for you pet loads. :) Any and all suggestions will be appreciated. :)
Thanks in advance, Don

Don,
My Rossi 92 prefers a bullet with a big meplat, and a good crimp. Monarch 357 158 gr HP ammo (available at Academy Sports here in Alabama) is the only factory ammo I have found so far that feeds without a hitch.
With reloads, I have found that if I have a bullet with a smaller nose, I can adjust the length of the case and COAL. I have had to do this with Hornady 158 and 180 XTP/HP bullets. So far so good. I get my best feed results with shorter cases when I use Federal cases. Got the best group ever at 25 yds. with 13.6 gr. of Lil Gun, SPM primer and 180 gr. XTP in a slightly shorter case (.040" shorter). 4 bullets formed a 3 leaf cloverleaf and 1556 FPS average velocity. I can't wait to try these at 100 yrds.
The more I use my gun the smoother it seems to get.
Have fun,
Ira

I had a Rossi Puma SRC with a 20" barrel in .357 Mag caliber back in the 80's. A straight shooting, fast handleing and handy little carbine. I could alternate .357 Mags and .38 Specials in the magizine and it would chamber them all with no problem. I did a lot of reloading back then, so shot mostly 158 grain SWC in both calibers. Dang, wish I still had it.
S J R N .357 158 gr- haven't used any .38 sp. No problems on my EMF 20 inch Bull on the first shot out of box and cleaned first . After cleaning , dried bore real good, then went to range .Love it

I have a Rossi M92 .44 mag medallion (I think?) I bought it from a friend several years ago and there is a place where some type of coin or medallion would have been. My Question? Is this something I can replace or is this no longer available? And is it worth the costs of replacing if it is available?
Thank You
Newbie here hope this is proper Etiquette.

Welcome to the forum. A good first stop for looking for old / odd gun parts:
www.e-gunparts.com (http://www.e-gunparts.com)
I'd also recommend contacting the manufacturer. Believe that Taurus bought Rossi, FYI....
Good luck.

Thank You MikeG
Do you think the Gun would be worth finding the Medallion for it?
I will contact the manufacturer to see what belongs there.
Thanks again for the reply

Several years ago I bought a new Navy Arms 1892 in 357 with the 24" barrel. The action is a bit clunky compared to my Marlin, but it's more accurate than I am. The action would probably smooth out if I worked it more.

Take it apart . Mix some gun oil & J. B. Bore Polish and smear on the working parts .
Cycle the action a few 100 times .
If it improves , repeat until you are happy ( may have to re-apply the JB's ) .
Clean and lube . Try CLP or USGI light weapons oil .
God bless

I've got one in .44-40 caliber. It's stamped Model 65 SRC, Interarms, Alexandria, Virginia.
It's never been fired so I can't tell much about it. Nice looking little rifles. Not sure why it's called an SRC? Mine has never had a ring.

I gotta Model 92 SRC that my uncle gave me and the lever won't close. Seems like something is blocking it(the loading gate?). Can't find anything that give detailed instructions on how to dis-assemble. Any help?
Thanks,

Well, it didn't work. I still can't get the action to close. Next stop, gunsmith. Thank you for your help, I got pretty far along, but it just wouldn't do what the instructions said. Oh well.

Steve. If you like to tinker, check out the aforementioned Steve Young at www.stevesgunz.com (http://www.stevesgunz.com). He sells a DVD on the 92 and is supposed to be one of the top notch 92 mechanics in the country. Good luck.

I've got two Rossi 357s and they are both great. Contact Steve Young (http://stevesgunz.com/index.htm)for his DVD showing you the how easy it is to perform an action and trigger job on it. It's really easy to do yourself and you'll be amazed with the results!!
If yours has a safety on the rear of the bolt that you'd like to lose, Steve has a plug for it. I'd also talk to him about a metal mag follower to replace that yellow plastic one (for longer life) and a reduced power ejector spring. All the other springs get taken care of during the action job, including reducing the trigger to about 2.5-3.0 lb break.

My 24" rifle version sports a full action and trigger job, safety plug, metal mag follower and Marbles front bead, folding rear, and tang sights for long range (300yd) fun.

My 20" carbine sports the same action and trigger job along with the other internals plus I added saddle ring and changed to a Marbles bead front and Marbles semi-buckhorn rear sight combo.
