Got a Marlin I never saw. Half octogon half round 1895 rifle, I love it. I think this is it. You guys got the answers am i right.

MARLIN 1895 LTD: The only thing wrong with this .45-70 levergun is the fact that it is a Limited Edition. Introduced in the fall of 1997, this edition is now sold out. That is the bad news. The good news is that 1998's version is already available and will be the same basic gun with a full octagon instead of a half round-half octagon barrel and the butt stock will be the pistol grip shape.

The barrel length on the Limited Edition is a very pleasing 24" with a full magazine tube. This not only looks great but also gives a capacity of nine .45-70 rounds. Thank You Marlin!, and no checkering on either the forearm or the butt stock, Thank You Again!!

Thanks. Nanook youre up. I had an original 1895 years ago but this is nicer with the half oct/half round. Ill mount a peep when the new wears off. Ive had a few specialMarlins but never saw this one before.

DocWills - Relo 45/70 here. What you have (I believe) is a Lim.1. If it shoots anywhere as good as my Lim.V you have a winner !!! Every one that I've heard about shoots really good. As I remember Nanook 450 likes his V so well he bought 2, lucky guy. If I ever run up on another one, and have the $$$$, I'll do the same. Good luck and good shooting. Ron:D
