I am looking for info on a reloading die I found in some of my father's stuff. The overall length is approx 9" and OD is 1.837". The only markings "Herter's -Waseca, Minn"There is no other identifying marks on it. Any help would be appreciated.

Kwallek,
Nine inches! That's three time the length of a cartridge die.
Are you familiar with cartridge loading dies?
Does it look like a case sizer,or a bullet seater?

Or maybe a die for a 50 Browning?

No letters or numbers???
It may be a swaging die. Does it have an ejector stem inside of the die with perhaps a little knob on the outside top of the stem.
Bullets are rammed up into the die and the stem is whacked with a blunt lead hammer and ejects the newelly shaped bullet out of the bottom of the die.
If its .44 or .45 caliber...I'll buy it.

Herters was a sporting goods catalog/outlet that went out of business do to mismanagement in the early 80's. They had good quality stuff though. I have a couple herters dies and the work as well as anything newer.
The herters markings are probably on the ring that you set the height with. Those are interchangeable and your dies might possibly not be a herters die at all. If it is a herters or most any other die...there will be either compay or caliber makings either on the barrel of the die or on the very top when you look down at it. A nine inch die is unusual...if you could post a pic...we might get you a better idea. Hope this helps...

Yes, Swede's right, we need a picture of it if you can furnish one.
I own two Herter's swaging presses, really massive pieces that are built like parts of an abrams tank.
Never seen a nine inch die from any manufacrer before, be interesting to see what you have.
