Hi everyone, I will get some BTB .411 265 gr. cast GC's Monday to load in my 94 FG 41 Mag. I need some ideas as to powder and starting weights for this bullet. Please fill free to chime in. I will be careful! The powders that I have on hand are: LIL'GUN, H110, AA #5, and Unique. Would think that I could reach the 1450 - 1600 fps range with this bullet.
Marshall do you have a good load for this bullet?
Thanks Ron

Go to the BTB Home page, enter Loadswap and look up the .41 Mag info. There is a load for the 265 gr cast bullet using H110.

I have shot the BTB 265gr in 41 mag quite a bit and the Cast Performance version of the same bullet a little. Please work up cautiously since all my loading work is only with my Ruger Blackhawk.

Loadswap shows 21.0gr of H-110 with the Cast Performace bullet in a Starline case and Federal Mag primer. I use the same cases and primers.

My testing gave me a max load of H-110 of 19.0 gr with the Cast Performance bullet. Max load for the Beartooth Bullet is 20.0gr of H-110. Different lot's of H-110 may give you slightly different results. I just did not want you to go out and try 21.0 to start with. My 20.0gr load of H-110 has only been tested in my one revolver. I recall that Cast Performances data is quite a but lighter than anything here.

Work up and let us know how you do.

Bill

Thanks kdub and Bill M, I saw the Loadswap H110 load of 21 grs. and thought it a little high. I wanted to maybe get just a little lower to start with and I think I will start with 17.5 grs. of both LIL'GUN and H110. Will let everyone know how it works out along with twicking the 94 so it will cycle that bullet. Going to Fla. to see my kids and shoot, will get back to you when I get home. Thanks again Ron

I just had to pass along to everyone that, at least on my 1894 FG, it was unnecessary to take off any metal on the carrier to get the longer (heavier) bullets to cycle. I made up 2 dummy rounds COL of 1.705 and they fit and cycle with NO problem. Wow thats great. I guess that I should say that the bullet in question is BTB's 265 gr. Ron :D:D

Now to see how they shoot:D:confused::D
