I have read in some of your messages that Hornady is coming out with a necked down .22 LR to 17 caliber. I have been wanting to buy a Single Six in .17HMR, but now I feel that maybe I should wait. I'm sure that in the future they will supply two cylinders, one for .17HMR and one for the new cartidge just as they do with the .22LR/.22 mag, wont they?? Does anybody have any thoughts on this???
Help me please. Lack of information always brings me to indecision and will inevitably lead me to a hasty purchase; a fate I have suffered many times!!

Get the current .17 and have fun with it , rule of thumb with ruger is don't hold your breath wait for them to supply their latest offering to the world ,you most surely will perish long before they do the price you will probably pay for the dual cylinder model will probably be close to what difference will be for sending back your gun and having the second cylinder fitted , and in the meantime you can plink away .

I agree. The dual cylinder .17 is a great idea, but don't hold your breath. Get the .17 HMR now and have fun with it. Even if you end up getting another pistol in .17 MkII you will have had fun in the mean time. I bet it will be at least late 05 before Ruger has the Super Single Six in .17 MkII and .17 HMR. Right now there are 3 .17 LR out, the .17 Aguila, the .17 High Standard, and the .17 MkII. My money is on the .17 Mk II sticking around and the other two going by-by, but who knows. I doubt Ruger will come out with any .17 LR until there is a clear winner.
Me, I'm waiting for the Stainless Steel (hopefully in target grey) and now with dual cyclinders. I am in no hurry.
