Anyone have experience with the Little Dandy pistol powder measure? If so, how do u like its accuracy & durability?

Have one of them...is a fixed rotor measure, so you'll need a differnt rotor for each charge you want to throw. In my case, have a fovorite load for the 45acp I've used for 25 years, and another for the .38specail, and that's the only two rotors I have near at hand (one with a big 38 on the rotor knob and the other with a big .45).

HAve bought specific rotors...have also bought several of the smaller sizes and drilled them out to the desired weight...there are around the shop someplace...seldom use the little dandy for anything but those two standard loads.

But for general use, I'd have to say pass on it...pretty good for specific loads you already know you'll load in massive quantities, but fustrating for any other use.

Thanks, Ribbonstone, for the good feedback on the Little Dandy. The use I have for it is similar to yours- a specific load for .45 ACP. BTW I'm originally from New Orleans- lived there thru college (UNO). Now live in CO.

Did a couple of years there...back then it was LSUNO, they hadn't become independent yet...that came about about the same time that "streaking" was the fad.

Same use...5.0gr. of Bullseye for the standard ball duplication loads. Infact, the little Dandy came to me by way of a 'Green Machine' (a missguided attempt by RCBS to make a straight line progressive press...if you see one, make the sign of the cross, hold up some garlic, and don't look directly at it).

Have used for for thirty plus years. They are accurate (more so than the average powder scale will weight since they are in tenths of a grain) and reliability is excellant. Have all the rotors and use it quite extensively for reloading both pistol and rifle calibers.

Since I shoot many different firearms of the same caliber I've found the need for quanity of fodder rather than single hole accuracy my main need. I've also noticed the trend for one hole accuracy alluded to in all gun articles by the gun writers. My standard is will the load hit the target at the range I'm shooting and do it 95% or more of the time. If it does then its accurate by my standards. (Mostly varmit shooting and you need lots of ammo.)

As ribbonstone alluded to you can custom make rotors to you own needs by the method he indicated. If memory serves me RCBS used only two drill sizes for there rotors and just varied the depth of the hole for powder capacity. I've had some ideas along those lines for several years and my pursue them in the near future.

I use my measure for 9mm, 38 Special, 357 Mag, 41 Mag, 44 Mag & 45 ACP pistol cartridges. Also load 22 Hornet, 5.7MMJ and 221 Fireball rifle cartridges.

Do use a "rebated" hole if you drill one out...don't try to match the factory finish on the cutting edge, so avoid trying to match the hole diameter in order for the cutting action to remain as designed. (Polish your work...roughness will lead to powder varations).
