I'm looking at some of the single shot pistols out there MOA, RPM, Competitor, and the T/C encore or contender. Any comments on the brands? My 1st choice is probably MOA, but Competitor looks pretty good and seems more reasonably priced. can't find much information about them though.

My primary use would be for whitetail hunting up to 100 yrds with a straight walled cartridge 35 cal or over. That eliminates the striker or XP.

Thanks,
Ryan

TC Contender in .357 Maximum, if you reload, would be an excellent choice. The nice thing about the TC's are that they are reliable, readily available, and inexpensive...plus the huge number of rounds they are chambered for. I would take the Contender for hunting within the calibers you're interested in, but the Encore can take more powerful cartridges although it's quite heavy. I've shot the MOA at silhouette matches and it's an impressive pistol, but I've been happy with my TC's and XP's.

I have a T/C Contender in 44 Mag. It has excellent accuracy and more than enough power for whitetails at the 100 Yds you mention plus the option fof additional barrels for plinking or varmit hunting! The 10 inch barrel keeps it in the handy and more easily carried than the longer barrled modles.
