I have a Rugar Mark 1 that I haven't used in ages. I tried to clean it and now the clip won't stay on. Every time I pull the action it falls out. Anyone can help me to fix this?

Is the magazine release on the bottom locking the mag in place? Maybe the return spring for it is worn out. Just an idea.

Timmy, when you "tried to clean it," did you totally field strip it, per the owner's manual instructions? If so, get out the instructions, take the pistol down again and reassemble it. The Mark I's and II's are a bit tricky to reassemble if you haven't done it a few times. Sounds like there's something out of place that will not allow the mag to seat completely. If you don't have an owner's manual, Ruger will supply you with one, free of charge, if you contact them and give them the serial number of your piece. Also, if you have a good gun dealer in your area, they may be able to shake down the problem for you very quickly.

here's a good site for the rugers. http://www.1bad69.com you may have to dig around there, but he has step by step instructions on stripping and re-assembly of the MKII. the MKI should be very similar.

On the bottom of the grip, is where catch/ release is. Is the spring stuck or broken?
