View Full Version : Does this sound right?

Was benching the B-92 today. On recoil, the lever would drop, partially unlocking the bolt. Almost like the Speed-Pump feature on a Winchester shotgun.

It didn't seem to do this when I fired off-hand. I figured that I was more rigid while seated, which increased my felt recoil. The fingers were still throught the lever, and it was pulled open as the gun bucked upward.

At least I hope it's that, and that the gun's not haggard.:D

Thiunk it's your fingers pulling the lever down (OK...that's wrong...fingers stay still, rifle recoils up and pulls the lever down on stationary fingers) as the rifle recoils. CVan always test by keeping your fingers outside the lever when you shoot a round.

You phrased that a whole lot better than I did!
That's what I feel was happening.

Had a Marlin 62 in .256WCF...was possible to fire the gun in "almost" locked position. THAT would get your attention as the lever would open with some "gusto" and crack the devil out of your hand when it did. Design of the '92 is such that that won't happen (or at least won't unless something is seriously wrong or you for got to add back in all the parts).

Are some people that to this day believe pump 12ga.'s are opening themselves. On some models, if you are pulling back on the fore end when the 12ga. is fired, it will seem like a semi-auto ejection.

Good strong "off hand" type grip on the wrist of the stock (fingers through lever) will keep it from happening. We just tend not to curl the thumb over the top of the wrist when shooting from bags at the bench.
