Hi.
Do any of you know if the 94 will feed a cartridge with a 300 grain LFNGC? I'm looking to pick up a Trapper, and I'm wondering if I need to develop a new load using a 265 grain bullet.
Thanks,
Mark
I suppose it would depend on the length of crimp groove to nose of your particluar bullet. I am using bullets made from the Lee 300 RFN mold in my 94. They feed fine even when crimped in the lower groove, which is .360" from the nose. I'd bet your bullets will work fine as well.

BlackhawkFan,
My UN-altered USRAC 94AE Trapper will feed cartridges with an OAL of 1.75".
My custom worked on Rossi Puma chokes on cartridges of this length.
A forum member over on Handloads.com sent me a sample of a Keith variant. When loaded crimped into the crimp grove the OAL is 1.75". It fills my Ruger BH cylinder completely, and only the Win 94 will function with it.
I have found the USRAC (Win) 94's to be very generous with the OAL they will feed in the bigger handgun calibers.

Thanks, guys. I'll take your numbers home and measure my cartridges.
You gentlemen have a great day!

In our experience here, the M94 Winchesters in .45 Colt will indeed feed, chamber, and fire loads using our .452"-300gLFNGC without so much as a hiccup!
Marlin 1894's are a different story, requiring the mandatory alteration of the cartridge lifter so often discussed on these forums.
Your Winchester 94 will function nicely as it is!

Thank you, Marshall. I'm saving my allowance for a new Trapper as I write this!

BlackhawkFan,
Something else to consider if you come across a good deal on either the Marlin or Rossi 92, is that these rifles will feed slick as butter with the WFN profile bullets in .45 Colt. Bullet selection with the WFN is pretty extensive:
.45-255gWFNPB (http://www.beartoothbullets.com/bulletselect/display.php?catagory=22)
.45-280gWFNGC (http://www.beartoothbullets.com/bulletselect/display.php?catagory=22)
.45-300gWFNGC (http://www.beartoothbullets.com/bulletselect/display.php?catagory=22)
.45-300gWFNPB (http://www.beartoothbullets.com/bulletselect/display.php?catagory=22)
.45-330gWFNPB (http://www.beartoothbullets.com/bulletselect/display.php?catagory=22)
That should about cover whatever you're looking to shoot with a .45 Colt levergun!
I mention this so that should something other than a Win. Trapper come along at an attractive price, you might just take a second look at it!
Hope you find what you're looking for!

Thanks again, Marshall. You were a great help.
BlackhawkFan ,
I have had no problems running the Cast Performance, 335gr WLNs or those from COR®BON, thru my Trapper.
