I've decided to get a lee turret press and was wondering which of the 3 Lee powder dispensers would be the best one to get - Lee Auto-Disk, Lee Pro Auto-Disk, or the Lee Perfect Powder Measure.

I've also seen the Lee Adjustable Charge Bar (I assume for an auto-disk) but I'm not sure quite what it does - any ideas ?

Initially I'll be loading 38 special but I will be loading 308 at a later date.

I've used all three. Presently my powder dispensing chores are handled exclusively by a Perfect Measure. It works well with every powder I've tried except for BL(C)-2. Better in fact than RCBS and Hornady measures of similar design that came before it.

I currently have the turret press set up with the pro auto disk. Loading .41RM, .45Colt, and .45 ACP. Works great for Bullseye and H-110, very accurate and consistent. The only drawback with using the supplied disks is there are some "wide spots" between charges you can dispense, i.e. using H-110, you can throw 21.0 grains or 22.3, which is the avail size. Not a big deal, and there probably is a way to get around this limfac, but I've not looked into it. Good luck.

You can get the double disk kit and then you can throw charges of H110 like 20.9 21.0 21.2 21.3 21.5.

The LEE info for the double disk kit says "Stack two disks to not only double the capacity, but enables adjustments as fine as 0.1 to 0.2 grain. Over 13,000 loads easily calculated from the expanded selection chart."

The Lee Adjustable Charge Bar (for both the auto-disk and Pro auto-disk) will adjust to throw about 3gr to 24.2gr of H110. Get the Pro auto-disk if you decide to go with an auto-disk it is an improved version of the standard auto-disk.

The other fellows have pretty much covered the equipment and some possible limitations but to answer your specific question, the Lee Pro Auto-Disk with the Double Disk Kit will cover your needs for the 38 Spl and 308 Win. Adding the Adjustable Charge Bar will give you a complete range of charges for the 38. Use the Double Disks for the 308 Win. Still, the Perfect Powder Measure is a great addition and will cover any other situation. Intial charges should always be checked with the Safety Scale.
