I read the BTB Tech Guide. After fire lapping the barrel, it is recommended to polish the barrel. My rifle shoots good groups. I am considering fire lapping because the rifle gets very dirty and is hard to clean. Is it necessary to firelap it? Or, would polishing the barrel be enough to make clean up easy?
Hate to mess with a gun that shoots good groups. Think you'd be better served to find some different cleaning gear to make the cleanup a little easier.
If copper fouling is the problem, try the Wipe Out bore cleaner with the new accelerator they offer. Should help greatly on removing that copper stain.
Realize that as good as fire lapping and polishing is, the fact remains metal is being removed and may have an adverse effect to your present accuracy. Even Marshall advocates leaving a good shooter alone.
