How about an action pic. Sorry it's not a 16' barrel, will a 16" barrel do?

Elkloco,
Nope, I was shooting at a small rock up on the side of the canyon I was in. IIRC, I hit it too.....several times.

I am a big fan of short barreled carbines! Here is a pic of my .357's. The top one is a 1894C w/18.5" barrel and the bottom one is the now discontinued 1894CP w/16.25" barrel. I like both equally but you can maneuver a bit easier in thick brush with the shorter one.

Carwi... Nice rifles! I know that 18.5" .357 well... I love mine. That little 16" is awesome. I sure wish Marlin would make that little 16" in .357, .44mag, and .45 Colt. I'd prefer no ports, though. I'd buy one in each caliber if they made them. Fantastic little rifle~!

Yea, I love that 1894CP and I really don't like the ports but I have learned to get along with them. I feel Marlin is missing out on something not offering rifles with 16". I would dearly love one in .45 Colt!

Carwi... I had one of those little 1894CP's myself for a couple of days. I loved it. Only reason I returned it was because I wanted to have the rifle for defense purposes, possibly inside the house, and I didn't want a rifle with ports for potential indoor shooting. Also I didn't feel the ports added any benefit to a .357 rifle. Loved the gun though. The store allowed me to exchange it back for the 1894CS I have now.
I'm about to send my new 1894SS off for shortening to 16.25"... I'd leave it at 20" if I was into hunting, but these are just fun guns/camp/truck/home defense guns for me and I have other 20" rifles for Cowboy Action, etc. Here's how she looks now:

We're going to shorten up the forestock a little as well and refinish both stocks with a deep, dark tung oil finish. I'll post some pics when it's done.
My Winchester/Miroku 92 Ltd. Edition .45 Colt 16" Trapper is due to arrive from CDNN tomorrow or Monday... soooooo excited!
