I don't think that the various subspecies of moose overlap (like whitetail and mule deer do), so it's pretty much by geographic area.

Heck just do a google search. Shiras is one subspecies; don't know about the others (alaskan?).

I've found a lot of good animal pictures on the internet by searching with Google or other search engines.

Boone & Crockett lists 3 North American sub-species of moose: Alaskan (or Yukon); Canadian; and Shiras (Rocky Mountain). The Safari Club lists same but breaks down Canadian to "eastern Canadian" and "western Canadian". There is I believe an actual overlap between the Yukons and the Canadians because the classification boundary is the Alaskan/Canadian border, and the moose don't recognize politics! Ontario is the westernmost province to hold "eastern Canadians" I think, as with Minnesota in the lower 48. East of that, there are moose all the way to Maine in the states and Newfoundland in Canada. Check out the website for the North American Moose Foundation for lots of info. Go moose hunting!
