I'm looking for recommendations for a red dot scope for a S&W 500 revolver. I've had 2 Nikon Monarch VSD's fall apart on it. Thanx for any helpful info

Hubcap,
I use a Sightron red dot on my 45/70 and so far it works great.
Holds zero and is very bright. Paid $199 from Midway.

I use a Jpoint on my 500 and am very impressed with its performance. Easy to zero, comes right to the target and so far has handled the recoil from more than 200 rounds of handloads using 40 grains of Lil Gun with 350 grain Sierra bullets. This sight is very compact and light weight so it is not intrusive. Only difference is you adjust the sight to the point of impact not the other way as is normal for scopes.
The mounting system is also easy to install in the predrilled holes. You must use the correct mount or get a Jpoint adapter for your mount.
