Needed another rifle like I need a third arm, but i just couldn't pass on this one. Was checking pawn shops last week, and found a Savage 99E in .243 for $219. Usually see them go for $300 to $400 in common calibers. Slapped some money down to hold it, and will pay off and pick it up next week. Glad I didn't sell all my components or dies when I sold my last .243.

Yup - good rifle, good chambering and good price!

A second hope it shoots well for you. Should make a handy brush gun down there in SW Texas.

Some E models had birch or beech stocks instead of walnut. But they're still good hunting rifles.

T. R.,

So how's the transition to Pennsylvania going for you? Are you getting accustomed to our weather - rain - hot - cold - rain - hot, etc., etc.? Last week I shot in 90ยบ and the low 50's a few days later!

I too would like to find a Savage 99 in 243 and may be scrounging the tables at Leesport next Saturday. Are you planning to go to the gun show over the weekend? I only have Saturday available since I have a silhouette match on Sunday. Maybe we can arrange a get together for Sat. morning.

Best regards,
