Hi Y'all,

I am new to CAS and am looking at getting either Vaqueros or a Uberti made clone. I have heard you need to take the clone to a gunsmith, is this true?

Shouldn't it work new?

And how long will be before I have to take it back to the smith?

Is this expensive?

Are they compatible with Colt parts?

I was also curious about the clone strength and accuracy. Will it handle all factory loads?

Sorry for all the questions but any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I'm new to CAS too, but I can tell you that the Vaqueros is not a clone, it is much more beefy and will handle all loads.

You may be confusing 'does it work' with 'what are all the tricks that the top shooters use.' Sort of like the discussions we get into around here about nit-picky steps in our reloading, when someone's trying to figure out the basic steps, LOL....

Anyway - I'd shoot them 'as is' for a while, then decide how much money you want to spend to be competitive.

Vaquero is built like a tank, they will hold up well. Much larger and stronger than a Colt or copy.

Have fun!
