Seems like we recently had a discussion of the 62...got into it off topic as the original post was about Marlin 57's.
Any way, are two calibers..the .256WCf and later on some were produced in .30Carbine. Reasoanbly good little rifles, with one problem.
The .256WCF chambers are a bit loose...it's not headspace, as that's set by rim thickness, just that the chambers area bit on the long side. Normally, you'd just neck size to avoid sizing the shoulder back and blowing it forwards with each loading cycle.
But with the 62's kind of springy lock-up, you end up having to p[ush that shoulder back a little bit to get it to chemaber...and it bowls out on firing...so case life in the 62 isn't all that long with warm loads.
The .30carbine version didn't hafve that quirk...straight (or nearly so) cases don't have that shoulder.
