Finaly got a chance to do some testing on the Savage 99 in .243 I bought a month ago. Used some ammo I had loaded for my last .243 rifle (a Remington 788, traded for tools!), and some new handloads. Speer's 105 grain SP over 40 to 42 grains of IMR-4831. Groups averaged 1 1/2 inches at 100 yards, plenty good enough for whitetails where I hunt. I think this rifle will get some use this year!
