I'm in the market to purchase some black powder revolvers and a single shot 85 rifle and was wondering what all who had experience with Cimarron has to say. The guns i'm interested in are manufactured by Uberti who, as you know, supplies to Cimarron. I sent an email to Cimarron about the price difference and what do they have done to justify the increase. Their response was simply fit and finish producing a better functioning gun. I want to know what I would paying for and the answer seemed a little vague for me. Sometimes you get what you pay for and sometimes it's just marketing magic.
Thanx.
Uberti was always a good brand and one of the best of the imports of BP guns in the past ! As for the fit and finish i think most of this stuff is over priced and the shooters are getting ripped off ! They all make these guns with a CNC machine that is run by computers there isn't as much if any at all hand fitting like there used to be ! Just my opinion ! JAGG

I have a Cimarron SAA that I am very pleased with. Fit and finish are good and it shoots pretty well.
Shortly after I got it the hand spring broke. I called Cimarron and they promptly sent me a new one at no cost.
Good gun and good service. I'll buy from them again.
Good guns and good service.

Never owned a Cimarron, but I've handled a few. What they are is a Uberti that has been hand-fitted by a Texas gunsmith, and they are smooooth. The only drawback is if you don't like a real light trigger, because Cimarron hones that thing down pretty light. You will definitely want to follow the CAS rule of "point it before you cock it" or you're apt to lose a toe!
I would rather buy a Cimarron and go shooting than buy another gun that is $50 cheaper and send it off for a trigger & action job.

Hello,
I must make a crack at or about Cimmaron Arms. Just two or three months ago a friend of mine, who dearly wanted an 1875 Remington, and could not find them anywhere other than EMF, ordered one through Walter-Craig in Selma, Al.. It cost him around $400.00 to 450.00. In subsequent correspondence and phone calls, the folks at EMF proved to be absolutly friendly, helpful, and courteous. This morning my buddy called me and said that he saw on Cimmaron Arms' website where they are offering the 1875 Rem again......, for $1000.00. What kind of crap is that. I hope no one buys it from them. If I had the money I would by one from EMF. I just hope and pray EMF doesn't go up on theirs like that. What a blatant grab at the consumer/customer's wallett! To me it is a rip off!
Take care,

Was the $1000 price tag the "suggested" retail price? Or was one of a series of special, limited run or the top of the line in the Remington 1875 options? I can't help but think that unless you were to order one from Cimarron with gun fighter exotic wood grips, bone blue or original finish (looks antique) and engraving would it reach $1000. I don't think the Hartford 1875 .45 +P rated revolver is $1000 list price?

Hello,
I just went to the site my buddy told me about; (legendaryguns). Here is the actual page with the little add about the pistol: http://legendaryguns.com/CASguns.htm .
I went to the add about the pistol. It is the Hartford or something like that. It is an all blued 1875 remington. Only the loading gate and hammer are color case hardened. It was $1300.00 and is now marked down to $1200.00 or so. It is not any special edition, commemmorative or anything. My buddy ordered one from EMF about three months ago for $450.00. His is twice as beautiful as the one for $1200.00. The EMF one has the entire frame color case hardened. The barrel and cylinder are beautifully blued, with walnut grips. An absolutly beautiful and flawless pistol. The Hartford one is I think way, way over priced. Check EMF out.

Wel, that is the +P rated 1875, and is advertised as the "only" hunting 1875 replica made. I still can't see paying that much for it, even with the forged receiver and wooden presentation box though, although I believe it would be a fine firearm to own.

Hello SFT,
One thing I forgot to mention is the one for $1200.00 or so has the cap and ball type of front site sticking up on the barrel. The one from EMF has a blade front sight similar to a colt sight. Just thought I would mention that I had forgotten to mention it.

That's just a lot of money, too much for me to spend on that type of pistol. I've now seen models with optional german silver front blade type sight, but it wouldn't be in my budget any time soon.
