Any opinions on the .405 winchester that has just been re-introduced??? Actually I need another rifle like I need another body orifice but this does intrigue me...Ole teddy Roosevelt thaought the .405 heap good lion medicine in Africa...what do you all think???

it would not be a first choice of mine for lion in Africa, however I do like this cartridge and it should be a good one for our continent without a doubt.

This past Christmas, I got one of the 1895 Winchesters in .405 Win as my present to me. I like Winchesters, lever actions, John Browning, and Teddy Roosevelt, so I had to have one! I enjoy shooting it, and it's no more unpleasant to shoot than my 1895 Marlin Cow Boy with hot loads. From a practical standpoint, however, there's really nothing a .405 Win can do that a hot .45/70 or .450 Marlin can't do just as well. IMHO
