Its been 8 weeks since I've been able to hunt.
After a full moon Saturday night, and cool temperatures forcast, I couldn't stand it.
My wife went to church by herself

Midday hunting during a full moon has always been good for me. I shot three (one piglet) and two coyotes.

I've taken a liking to my re-barreled 7mm-08. With 120 grain HP's, they go down like a rock.

Sounds good.

It had been so long since I've been hunting,I had almost forgotten the sound of the firing pin on a mauser action. That 120 grain works good on the tough pig hides.

We knew it would be good Sunday when we almost ran over a group of hogs crossing the road Sunday morning before first light.

Come on down, maybe that 6.5/284 will be ready by then.

Tom

Golly, Gee!!!!

Ya mean it hasn't been picked up yet!!!

Been running to the range every 3rd day sighting in scopes (have mounted several and now back to the original old Redfield straight 12X) and building up ammo loads for the new (old) 6mm-284.

Right now, best groups have been with 105 Hornady V-Max's and H4831SC powder (3216 fps avg) and the 95 Gr Hornady SST's with VV N165 powder (3450 fps). Shot a couple of .770 MOA and .832 MOA's with it while still lapping in the new barrel. That's just about as close as I can hold off a bench, anyway with a somewhat potent centerfire.

I picked up a set of the large bull bags. Just a big sand bag with a wedge in the middle.Weighs about 15 lbs. Didn't know it but the center is coated with a sticky surface and when you set your rifle in it, the gun doesn't recoil. The bag absorbs the shock.

I've shot my best groups off of it. You'll have to try it-
