My Remington 37 has a Redfield International globe sight and receiver sight. The base for the rear sight is bent, and I would like to replace it.
It mounts on the left side of the receiver - opposite side from the bolt handle. It's 2 inches long with four holes drilled in it - it's dove-tail shaped - the sight slides over it - the dove-tail is 3/8 inch.
Any ideas where to find a replacement? I've searched Numrich, Brownell's, Midway, E-bay, Gunbroker, Auctionarms, and googled it to death, but can't seem to find anything. I guess next step is trying to find a machinest who can make one.

The base for the rear sight is bent, and I would like to replace it.Can it be straightened? Perhaps a good machinist/gunsmith could do this for far less than the cost of making a new one. If not, keep scanning ebay or check the other sites under "Redfield sights". Good hunting!
I'm not sure. What I have, the ghost ring base is an angle bracket, graduated vertically on the left side. That side slides into the left mounted base. There are two holes drilled on the angle bracket and two on the side mount (not counting the graduated slide set screw.
Am I close?

No, this base is straight. It is a really simple base - the only complicated things about it are the notches in the top to stop the sight at different points, and the precise taper of the dovetail that the sight slides on.
I've got it gerry-rigged for now, but I'm still looking for a replacement. I may have to buy new sights and just put these on a shelf for want of the proper base for them.

Hermit:
If you find any bases anywhere, kindly post it here on the Form. I need a base for my Redfield Olympic Receiver sight that will go on a flat sided receiver.

There are a couple places that might be able to fix you up with a new base. Try Champions Choice in Tenn to see if they still have a base in stock. If not, try Warner Tool Company (Mgr of the outstanding Warner rear sight) as they make bases for Win 70, Rem 700 and custom actions. They could probably make one for you very easily. I'm not sure of the diamater of the M37 action, but a base from another rifle may fit. You could also try Ross Precision Rifles as he also makes many custom parts and accessories as well as target rifles. These are all business specializing in target guns and accessories and contact info is only a quick google away.
