I have a case trimmer which I thought to be a forster. Mine is silver and the cutter shaft measures .490" I went to the forster web site and see their products are gold. what do I have. I want to buy some neck turning attachments and need to know the brand I have.
thanks, Sparky

I don't know if Forster made a silver base, but mine's gold and about a 1970 model. The shaft is .490, and the pilot stem is .185", probably for a 3/16" hole. Got a pilot once that had a considerably smaller shaft, but I can't remember what make of trimmer it fit. Forster's have the 4 jawed collet that takes 3 different sized cases in the #1 and #3 collets. Not sure about #2 and #4. The hand screw that the collet fits into is .775" ahead of the threads, .865" over the threads and threaded 20 TPI. The two bushings that the cutter shaft and the collet go into are 1.115" dia. Both have two threaded holes for mounting to the base, for extra case length adjustment. The standard base is 5.4" long. It's stamped Forster (bullseye) Products in large letters with Lanark, Illinois stamped beneath in smaller letters.

Could you have Forster gear on top of a home-made base?
