Has anyone tried any of the .17 HM2 conversion kits for the Ruger 10/22? I think I'd like to convert mine but first I'd like to know what luck people have had with various brands. (I've heard bad stuff about Butler Creek, for example.)

Plus I've having trouble even figuring out who might be making these kits. There seems to be some confusion online between .17 HMR and .17 HM2. Do y'all know what brands are available?

I used an E. Arthur Brown (EABCO) barrel and heavy bolt handle to convert mine and love it. Much more accurate than the stock carbine rifle.

From what I have heard, the HM2 doesn't live up to the hype like the HMR did.

Does anyone know way Volquartsen requires the use of the Mach 2 1022 bolt with their barrel.
Thanks for any info.

I believe it is a weight issue, i think the bolt on the conversion is lighter so it cycles easier

Yeah, it is to make it cycle better; although I thought it was a heavier bolt, not a lighter one (dunno for sure).

I knew it was one way or the other

Heavier bolt delays the action opening, and vise versa.

At www.eabco.com there are 10/22 conversions for the 17 Mach 2 and the 17 Aguila. The kit comes with a heavier bolt handle that allows you to use the existing bolt. It's the least expensive conversion that I've seen on the net.

I don't know about an autoloader, but in a bolt action rifle chambered in 17 Mach 2 you can fire the 17 Aguila ammo but not vice versa. Don't know how accurate that would be but the ammo is much cheaper.

Anyone been down that road?

I was thinking about converting my old 10/22 to .17 HM2.

Has anyone used this kit?
