Does anyone know where I can get some 5 mm bullets? It doesn't matter what type.
I don't know much about the gun, other than it's a Remington. My brother-in-law owns it and does not shoot it because of bullet supply.
Thanks

The 5mm Remington Magnum is a rimfire cartridge and the ammunition is no longer made by anyone. The ammunition is nearly impossible to find and is super expensive when you do find it. Being a rimfire, it doesn't lend itself to handloading.
There are a couple of old threads around here, do a search for 5mm rimfire to find those.

The Old Western Scrounger. Google will turn them up.

Thanks for the information, I didn't realize it was a rimfire.

We offer a conversion to centerfire for the Remington 591s and 592s.

I have tried OLD WESTERN SCROUNGER. They do not have any at present. Anybody have any other possible sources?

The 5mm ammo (already) and the gun (soon) are acheiving collector status, so when prowling gun shows, be prepared for sticker shock. Sadly, for a user, it will propably make financial sense to sell the 5mm to a collector and find a nice .22. Neither of the .17's nor .22 mags will become plinkers at $5-8 per box of ammo.

I have not seen 5mm ammo for sale for a lot of years and that includes a bunch of gun shops. All the best...

I just scored a box of ammo at the Dallas Gun Show, it was $75 a box. It was a good find and prize.

Here's a rather impossible suggestion:
Couldn't an experienced handloader drill out a primer well in the spent cartridges and press a small pistol primer? Just an idea when you're talking about over $1.00 @ round.

Nope, the cases are rimfire and the brass is both to thin and pressed and folded in such a way as to provide no support for a primer even if drilled out. Not only that problem exists, but they the firing pin has to be modified from a rimfire to a centerfire. Sorry.
But there is a company making a reloadable centerfire case and modifying the bolt to fire those cases that will chamber essentially converting it from a rimfire to centerfire rifle.

Yes I can see the problem when explained that way. The photo confused me as it looked as though the cartridge had a pretty thick rim. I'm glad for the shooters that someone took it upon themselves to solve the problem with some good old American knowhow!

I have a CF conversion. It performs better than the original ammo and the set-up costs are worth about 4 boxes of RF ammo. (That's an afternoons shooting in these parts!) ~AMMOe

If you guys that own or want to shoot the 5mm Rimfire go over and do a search on predator Masters forum for the 5mm rimfire you will find a source for new ammunition. It's being sold from what I read for under 30 bucks a box and it's new manufacture.
