View Full Version : XS Front-Sight Height Problem
I installed an XS ghost-ring on my 336 but I find the need to "bury" the post in the sight-picture a bit in order to achieve POA/POI convergence! This is WITH the ring screwed down as far as it'll go.
Any of you have this problem before, and know which height of XS post a 336 needs? The default one just isn't working for me quite right.
Thanks.
You can always call XS and be sure to have the rifle handy along with a measuring scale. You will need them when talking with XS.
I had to use the smallest ghost ring that came with the set for my 444SS to be able to shoot at 50 yd.

Yes, I needed to switch to the smaller ring as well. THe oher thing I needed to pay attention to was that I was used to positioning the post on the target with my M1A iron sights, but with the ghost ring, I need to "Dot the i" which is where I will obtain the proper sight picture.
Good luck

I had the same problem on my 336 CS 35 Rem. Did you use the plastic front post that came with the sight? It is used to determine the correct front post size. The reason they give you the plastic front posts is for you to trim the plastic notched post .050 thou at a time. They tell you in the XO instructions to set the rear sight half way in elevation and trim the plastic to get on target. If you have not installed the front post they will exchange it for the correct size at no charge.
There is a chart in my Brownells Catalog #55 on page 266. It may be on another page in a newer catalog. You can use it to determine the correction you need on the front post. Or you can adjust the rear to half way between out and bottomed out. Then shot a group and use the chart in Brownells Catalog. I had to go to the .450 thou. Dovetail.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info, everybody. I will check out my B's catalog ASAP and talk to XS. I didn't get a plastic front spacer when I bought my sights, though. Also, I switched the ring down to the smaller one and will see if that helps.
