Has anyone mounted a receiver peep sight on a 9422?
If so what make/model and did you need a taller front sight?

Hope all is well,
I had a Legacy 9422 that I traded a few years ago. I had installed a Williams Fool Proof on it. It utilized the tip-off dovetails on the receiver. It was a "universal" model that should fit most .22's with dovetailed receivers. I did not have to use a taller front bead (the legacy has a longer barrel than the carbine, I cannot say wether or not you will need a different height front bead, also, most of my shooting is < 75 yards with an open sighted .22). Try williams' web site to find the appropriate foolproof.
Take care,
Scott

Thanks Scott. That would be the Williams FP-GR. I haven't seen one in the flesh but I have heard they are a bit cumbersome compared to those that actually mount on the side of the receiver.
I am using a Williams FP-94SE on my 94 Legacy (.30 WCF)and I'm more than happy with it.
Thanks again,
Bruce Scott

What would be the best no-gunsmithing-needed peep-sight for Winchester 9422?

I would imagine it is the Williams FP-GR. I have seen some others on the Brownells website that also fit in the scope grooves.
I took my rifle to the gunsmith today to have it drilled and tapped for a Lyman 66A receiver sight. It appears to be very well made and more elegant in appearance to the Williams equivalent. I taller front sight may be needed and I have one which I filed square on top. I find bead sights difficult to use.
