I was in a gun shop yesterday and saw an interesting Marlin 30-30 for sale. It was marked as a 30W had a gold trigger, cross bolt safety and absolutely not a mark on it. It was listed for $225. I don't know anything about Marlin's 30-30s so any info on this rifle along with a reasonable price range would be very helpful, it just caught my eye as I have never had a 30-30 and plan on getting one sooner or later, this just seemed like a good deal. Wanted to check it out first with you more knowledgeable guys. Thanks in advance.

that is a very good deal for a mid-range Marlin. as you described, nuthin fancy, but sure functional and good lookin. gettin it for $200 would even make it better.
I have a Foremost [read Marlin] made for JC penney that I got from a board member on this site for about $125 bucks. It has the gold trigger, pressed checkering and a pistol grip stock.
I'd grab it, deals like this slip by too soon.

Went to the store today and it was gone! Come to find out used guns don't sit to long at this particular dealer's shop. Good prices and 5.5% sales tax are a hard combo to beat. I'm keeping my eyes open and watching the pawn shops, one will turn up sooner or later. Besides I wasn't really that interested, I have too many project guns right now anyhow.
