My father has a nice nickel plated H&R Model 923, a 9 shot revolver chambered in .22LR. The serial number is K9xxx and is has a 6" barrel. Does anyone have the means to tell me the year of manufacture?

I have a H&R mod. 976 .22lr And have had the same problem. This is the only info I can find. 900 series use the same action, but different barrel, sights,& grips. JP

K = 1950. Here's a list that covers H&R serial numbers from 1940 to 1982.

Thanks Jack. I'll let my Dad know his H&R was made in 1950.

My Dad's 923 does not have a cylinder crane like the one in the picture. To reload, you must remove the cylinder pin, remove the cylinder, reload, and reinstall.

My father was strictly a shotgunner and the old gentleman who taught me to shoot rifle and revolver had a 922 with the pull-out cylinder pin. He had it before 1956. My 929 doesn't have the extended trigger guard - filler like the one in the picture. It's an AF = 1969, 6" barrel.

Contrary to what Slim thinks ;), I don't save everything I should, and I had a hard time finding that list on the web again. It's saved and backed up this time.

Mine is different also, at 1st glance it looks like a single action w/ extracter. Only it's a double action. Hardened steel case and trigger gaurd, blued barrel(pinned) and frame. JP
