I have a CZ 452 Varmint but it won't shoot very well unless I use Federal Match B700. I need to know if there is something I can do to get it to shoot less expensive ammo for gophers.

Not really....if it shoots Federl well, then there may be a less expensive brand ti will also shoot well, but you'll have to try all the differnt types you can find and test them to hunt it up.

What I suspect is that there are one or two brands you have in mind, the ones easily found in your location, and those one or two aren't shooting well. Sometimes you get lucky...sometimes you don't....but it's pretty ahrd to tune a gun to shoot one partiular brand or lot of ammo (and if you did, the maker would change something, and it would end up not shooting well next season).

yup ribbonstone hit the nail on the head. My 452 and I went thru a dozen different types of ammo before we found the ones it liked. Mine does well with Winchester bulk I get at Wally world. It does not care for Remington bulk and will tolerate federal's though I get more misfires with them.

You have enough gophers that the few bucks differnce in ammo is important... you are NOT inviting the rest of us to come out and play?....what would your kindergarten teacher think of that?...go sit in the corner and no cookies for you.

I have a CZ 452 (are they all .22's?). I fire CCI Green Tabs and it does very well with those. Better than Wolf and Remington. I only punch paper, though. At 25 meters, I have a... well, I need to shoot my .22 more, so we won't talk about that. :o

My CZ will shoot CCI Velocitors at 1 inch at 100 yards,the gun is a Gophers nightmare.I have four .22's and they all have their preference for ammo,but the bulk cheap stuff will always perform at lower levels than the priemium stuff.The ammo that works for me is,CCI velocitors,Federal game shoks hp,Winchester power points,CCI mini mags,and Eley high velocity all hollow points.The best bulk stuff I'v found is the CCI blazzers and Winchester dynapoints,and I'v heard some say the federal american eagle ore ok.
