My father-in-law left a Remington pump 22. I believe it was a model 12 on the barrel it shows 22 Rem. it is tube feed under the barrel..

The tube port looks the size of a long rifle, Any one heard of a 22 Rem..

It is safe to use long rifles after he gun is checked out?

Thanks for the input...

This is one mention of the 22 Remington I found, you may want to do a web search or check in one of the books like cartridges of the world. Mine is loaned out to a friend right now.

There are other rimfire cartridges that are not listed because they are no longer in production. These obsolete cartridges are not interchangeable with "modern" rimfire ammunition of today. Collectors seek out most of these cartridges and those shooters who still have the old guns. The obsolete cartridges are: 5mm Remington Rimfire Magnum, .22 Extra Long, .22 Remington Automatic, and .22 ILARCO (.22 Short Magnum).

I have two modle 12 remingtons. Boath are from first year of production 1909. Boath shot a standared 22 short, long, or long rifle. However if it is not a modle 12 this bit of info is pointless.

Just did a little snooping around some time between 1909 and 1936 remington made a modle 12 in 22 rem special which is a different round than my 12s take. So i woulden't go fireing standard 22s through it.

The 22 rem is actually a 22 WRF (winchester rimfire) NOT A 22 MAG. Winchester and CCI still occionally make ammo for them labeled as 22WRF. This stuff will be allright to shoot if you can find it.

I don't have it with me but I will look for the letter codes on the barrel next week. I think I am going to clean it up and just have it as a keep sake. Someone did so hand "checkering" on the stock that is pretty crude, and the barrel has some little rust spots that I can take care of.
I will report back as soon as I get the information. Maybe I will take some pictures of it too..

Thanks Again for the information
