Tube, clip? Tube, clip? Tube, clip? both seem to have there advantages, and disadvantages. However i find my slef being drawn to the tube. I like the fact that i can put 10-17 rounds if long rifle in them and don't have to worry about it. Has any body ever had any problems with tube feeds other than they are hader to reload? I have heard of them falling out but never incountered this problem. Had it hapen with cips. What do you all say about the tube feed?

I have both types and greatly prefer the removable magazine for ease of unloading and loading. I wouldn't put a tube feed in the hands of a young shooter unless they where a superb student of gun safety. One downside I haven't had a problem with personally is the possibility of denting the tube. A tube feed is not really any harder to reload as you actually do have to put the shells in a removable magazine before you can put it in the rifle.

Personally I'll take the removable magazine for convenience although they would be quite a bit easier to lose.

I have an old winchester bolt w/ a 5 round clip and a remington 'gamemaster' pump w/ the tube.

They both shoot great. I plan to introduce my wife to the Pump as it has open sights that I want her to master b/4 she uses the scope on the bolt...Of course I'll load it for her & have her seated at a bench so I don't see any safety issues. I plan on teaching her to pull the slide back to eject the MT and then look for the next round b/4 pushing the slide back home...

I've been shooting it all summer to 'refresh' my ability w/ open sights; 30 years w/ a scope has spoiled me & I'm getting ready for muzzleloading season & the open sights on the T/C flintlock...

I like how smooth it shoots, it is possibly the first time I've shot a 'new' 22 as most of the families were trade ups...

It depends on what you prefer and are comfortable using. I have tube feeds and removable magazine models and like the removable mags much better. The tubes are slower to reload and prone to have a round hang up in the tube. True, one can loose a magazine, but they are usually not that expensive and I have spares. All the best...

I kinda like the tube fed .22's myself. However, the only .22 lr rifle I have right now is a Weatherby XXII that is clip fed. I like 'em both, but guess I'd prefer a tube feed.

Only tube fed 22 I've owned was one of the little Brownings. Great little rifle, loade from a tube in the butt stock. Lots of Rugers and now a CZ 452 with clips.

Prefer the clips, tho I have to admit It's a bummer when you lose one.

I have to admit I sure like the Brownings that load from the stock. That being said, I have seen more trouble with tube fed 22s than any other. One thing most folks don't think about is do you really want to squash those soft lead hollow points. Maby that's why you don't see tube fed target rifles.

The main reason for me however is safety. I find myself looking carefully for that little nub on the end of the plunger to be sure it's really really empty.

I have a marlin model 60. I have had no problems with it at all. I did add a scope to improve accuracy. Been shooting it for 12 years or more. Lots of rounds cycled. A great gun for plinking or small game out to 75 yards (squirrel sized). I have not encountered any issues w/ deformed bullets, or missfeeds. JP
