Are the 235gr Speer semi-point designed for use at 375W velocities. I'm speculating their not, but I thought I'd ask.

This is the bullet that Paco talks about in his writings that gets him 3500 fpe (I think). I would imagine that it's pretty stout and probably intended for 375 H&H velocities. Never tried them myself. Prefer flat nosed 250gr HC.

Good Morning Gents,

I think that these bullets will perform at 375 Win velocities, and Speer does have load data for them listed. Speer also warns that because they are semi-spitzers, they are not to be used in tube fed levers, even though the point is nicely rounded. Reckon Speer knows what they are doing.

My 375 is not a tube feeder, so I have tried out these bullets, and I am pretty satisifed with them. I had to back out of a pig hunt this May because of this deployment, and was going to use the old 375, either with this bullet, or the 255 Barnes. There is always 2006, I suppose.

Really interested in getting some load development with these two heavy bullets and AA 1680. It looks like this powder will do wonderful things for the 375, the AA data for the 200 Sierra and 220 Horn is really surprising, and certainly made me sit up and take notice. I'm assuming that they would beneift the heavier bullets as well, although this would take awhile to develop- and it will have to wait a while until the Old Man comes on home.

Long answer to a short question, I know, but I am quite confident that they will work.

Good Shooting fellows.

Steve

I have tried them in my 94 Big Bore. I used a small file to turn them into flat nose bullets. I tried a few loads with different powders and did not find any that gave suitable accuracy, so gave I up on them. They were no where near what the 220 Hornadys will do in my rifle, but they may shoot fine in yours. I think that they would be a little tough for the 375 Win's velocity too. Some of Speer's loads push them past 2900 fps in a 375 H&H. They may not expand well at 2000-2100 fps.
