I was reading the reviews of the Lee Classic press on the Midway webpage and someone brought up that the Lee dies don't work right off with the Hornady bushings and need to have the retaining ring flipped. Has anyone else experienced this? Is the fix really that easy? I'm planning on buying that press and the Hornady conversion kit as part of my first reloading setup and want to get others experience with it. I could use other dies but the Lee's seem like the best bargain. Oh yeah, I'm loading for a S&W 500.
Thanks,
Bryan

Bryan,
That is a good question, so I went to the shop and tried it. The lock-n-load bushing are a great addition to the Lee cast press and will work in the press. The only problem is the Lee dies. They did change them so they do have more threads and are about 1/2" longer than the old dies but they are still short dies. The 500 S & W I tried in the shop will work with the bushings but do not leave much for adjustment. the sizing die will bottom out on the shellholder so you should be fine. I do use an old set of 223 in my Hornady Progressive but have to put the lock ring on the under side the only problem with this is you can no longer use the bushing as it is ment to be used as the lock ring will not fit threw the bushing.
Hope this helps

Great timing Rob. I was just getting ready to order from someone else and I checked over here to see if I had an answer to my quesiton. I checked your site and you beat their prices. You can probably figure out which order is mine.
Thanks for the help,
Bryan

Bryan, I think you will find that if Bose's carries it, they probably have the better price. I did an awful lot of price comparison between them and the others. I only use Midway for items I can't find at Bose's. I'm hoping their breadth of inventory expands along with their success.
