Depends on what you're going to do with it. If its for plinking or target shooting, then whatever range you plan on plinking at.

IF you plan on using it for pest control, whatever range will give you the maximum range that will keep the bullet in the kill zone throughout your likely engagement range when you're centered on the target.

Whatever distance you want or shoot the most.I hunt with mine so dont know what distance I'll be shooting, right now its set at 60 yards.I set it on 60 because of a ballistic chart I saw for high velocity shells,All the way to 70 yards your never more than an inch from zero.It seems to work, but before the chart I sighted in at 70 with good results.I start at 25 then move to 50 then my final distance.I may return to the longer sight range if I start missing shots.

allwasy good to start at 25, much easier and faster to check out whcih ammo you gun is going to like , hedk you can problably shoot it opens sights and use shoot and see targets to see where the bullets strike without even using a scope or binos to check for impact. then as you go out, just click up on your verticle about five clicks usually, and you should be fine.
