That was Ranch Dog, probably .... that run is long over. I don't know if Lee can make that on a regular basis, or if it would have to wait for another batch.

I would be willing to participate in a joint purchase if Lee requires several orders before making a run on these molds again. It was Ranch Dog that made that special order with the TLC-432-285-RF mold from Lee. I believe they had several folks for that order. Since it has already been designed and made, it may not be so difficult again. One way to find out would be to make a call to Lee and see. I'm far away from starting to cast my own loads, but I would not miss out on the opportunity to order if it requires several people to do so and the opportunity presented itself.

FWIW, I have talked with Lee before about making a copy of a previously standard production mould that has been discontinued. Their answer? It is the same as a custom mould and requires the same (at that time) $100 set-up fee plus the cost of the mould. It seems much more cost effective to have a mould made by one of the custom makers for that price, and better quality too!

Yep I'm the fellow that came up with the TLC432-285-RF special order mold. It sure does a good job on game.

Lee waives the setup fee for an order of 25 molds and doesn't charge for shipping the units to one address. I had about 10 shooters commit to the mold and went ahead and funded the remaining to keep the price down. I sold the remaining molds shortly thereafter. Actually, I've been working on some more molds, the TLC432-285-RF amoung them.

I cast with 50/50 WW/Linotype and end up with a 265-grain bullet. The Lee standard is 95/5 WW/tin and that casts 285-grains. Both of the weights include the gas check.

I have had very good luck with Ballisti-cast moulds. I use their WFNGC that casts at 285gr. Look at their 44 cal designs #1424, #1446, #1418, #1440, or #1444. They are a quality company to deal with. They have always asked what diameter and alloy I want before making the mould. Just a suggestion about existing designs to look at.
