i know the new ammo works good on deer, but would it be to light in construction to work on a boar or bear shoulder?

Thirty thirty has been used on Black bear for over a hundred years. Leverevolution just makes it more accurate over longer ranges.
bigamehunter,
I am partial (only me) to the behind the ear shot on hawgs. So far that is my personal choice other than one between the eyes and another between the ears. :D I did shoot one a couple of months back on the run. I led her on the snout and the boolet behind the ear dropped her like a rock. ;) That was with a Hornady .265 gr. I now shoot BTB 290 Gr cast. Go for it bro!!!

Based on what I saw my buddy do, last week, on a hog/javelina hunt, in south Texas. I'd say the leverevolution ammo, in .30-30 is more than adequate for hogs[and probably bear up to 300+ lbs.]. He shot 3 hogs and one javie. All were one shot kills, and complete pass throughs. The last hog he shot was at about 120 yds. It went thru both shoulders. He was using a new Marlin XLR.

Go to the Marlin Owners forums, Big Bore section. There is a brand new report of a fella who took a large buffalo (bison) with the LEVERevolution ammo. It worked perfectly.

I don't know about bears, but a 30-30 on pigs works just fine.
