Was wondering what everyones comments would be on the .375 JDJ for my Encore? I would like to get the SSK antique cannon barrel for this (a cannon for a cannon). Ironic isn't it?
Thanks in advanced

It is a good caliber basically duplicates 375 Winchester rifle balistics iin a short barrel. I have heard good things about the accuracy but haven't had one. It has traken the big 5 more than once.

An SSK 15" .375JDJ barrel for an Encore is an outstanding piece of equipment to hunt the world with. I've used a 12.5" SSK Contender barrel on 4 continents to my complete satisfaction in the last 17 years, taking game as small as 15 lb. Steenbok and as heavy as 2000 lb.Australian Buffalo. In 2002, I also bought a 15" Encore barrel, but have not used it as much. This 15" barrel will run a 270 Hornady about 175 fps faster than my 12.5". My Contender has 4 port MNP, the Encore has an Arrestor. The cannon barrels are beautiful, but you can't very well fit an Arrestor, and I'm not sure what 4 port MNP would look like... a matter of personal taste, I guess. I sure wouldn't want a .375JDJ that didn't have one recoil reducing device or the other.

In my limited experience with heavy recoiling single shots, I only have one piece of advice:

Get as light of a high quality scope as you can find and get a proven mounting system.

I've had problems using variable power scopes on my T/C custom .358 Winchester, but since I went with a 2x Leopold and weaver mounts, my problems with the scope not staying put are a thing of the past.

T'*** and 3 or 4 Rings from SSK, and a 4X Leupold will last as long as the owner does. Why on earth does it substitute those asterisks?

It's the auto-censor feature of the forum. It's thorough, but at times makes no sense...

Boy do I agree with Ken ONeill

I foolishly bought this barrel for my Encore ... NOT ported. Way more recoil than I choose to shoot. I've shot eight, count 'em, eight rounds through this barrel and I'm done with it. Ain't no fun. Hurts the web of my hand, hurts my middle finger ... just plain hurts. The thng is brutal. $180 plus UPS shipping will buy this almost brand new Encore barrel, original box included. I'd be glad to be rid of it. Anybody want a partial box of 12 .375JDJ "Hand Cannon" rounds for free, just lemme know. I ain't, fer **** sure, gonna shoot 'em.
