Consider QUALITY to be more important than price when purchasing a precision measuring device. A caliper should last a lifetime given proper use and maintenance. A quality American, European, or Japanese made tool in the mid-price range would be my personal choice.

Everyone's selling these calipers, some for less than Midway. My first one went haywire after a year, with random numbers on the display. The second one is still working. Both were pretty accurate, within .001" of a Moore&Wright 0-1" micrometer and both read 2.999" on the setting gauge of a 3-4" micrometer. I wouldn't trust one for fine machining, but they're great for coarse work like setting the case trimmer. They're also much easier on my old eyes.

I have Midway's 6" DIAL caliper, and eyes that need reading glasses. Find it easy enough to read the dial.

I have two, a Lyman I bought years ago for about $75 and a the cheap one from Midway. The Lyman didn't last long but I think that was due to me leaving it in the damp basement and I think moisture did something to it. The one from Midway has worked great for me.
