In the rules, you say a red dot sight is in the open sight class. I have a red dot Tasco ProPoint PDP 2 on my 35 J C Higgins (Marlin) rifle. Is this what you mean by "red dot sight"?

Yes, this is a "red dot" type so it shoots with in the open sight class in both the Bench & Offhand Matches. The reason behind this decision several years ago was based on the MOA of the dot. It is more appropriate for shooting at 50-yards than it is at 100-yards.

Use of a sling in the offhand match?
