What is your favorite rifle? I love all of mine. I have a Marlin in 45/70 that is probialy the most useful for hunting. I have a Ruger M77 in 338 win mag that I want to be dead accurate on. I have a Savage .17 hmr that is a blast to shoot. My rabit rifle is a Ruger 10/22, tons of fun and cheap. What is your favorite, I will be my next purchase.

my favorite has to be my 1022 custom....... the heavy fluted barrel, the laminated thumhole stock, the customised bolt and target hammer just makes the little rifle!!!! i love the way it shoots groups at 50 yards i cover with my fingertip...... the ammo is cheap so i can shoot all day for just a few bucks........ what's not to love?

For me, either the 308 in a medium light rifle, or a 260 Rem in a light rifle, they are Remingtons, not that I think Remington is the best, just what I have

Once it was Weatherby

But I like my Marlins too.......

A pre-'64 Mod 70 30-06 Featherweight w/a 2.5-8x Burris Signature w/posi-lok scope on it. It doesn't get used much, but it has bagged a nice 26" 4x4 muley. It gets fondled a lot though.

One that gets more use is a Browning A-bolt stainless stalker in 338 WM - the "meat gun".

My dads .240 weatherby magnum. One of the original mark V deluxes topped off with leupold 3-9. She is a beaut to shoot. Either that or the HS precision HTR in 338 lapua magnum topped off with a swarovski.

If I knew the answer to that, I wouldn't have to stand in front of the open vaults on one foot and then the other trying to decide which one to take shooting/hunting! :p

I love em all!!! However, I do certainly have those that see more action than others, such as my model 70 .338 Win mag and my 25-06 and 6.5/06. Now days they are being replaced my my last project gun, a 6.5/300WSM.

I was once asked: "which of those cars in your building do you like the best, the coupe or the roadster"? I love em all was my reply. :D

Ain't that the truth, brother...

Custom Mauser in 308 with a Core-lite stock and a Leupold M-8 6x32 scope...

I think a better question would have to be which rifle you would save if you could only save JUST ONE.

THAT would be a hard question to answer. :(

I have owned a sweet Winchester Model 70 .270, an awesome heavy barreled .22-250, an old Win 94 .30-30 that is surprisingly accurate, and a new 7mm WSM that is lights out with all bullets tested so far.

But my favorite would have to be one of the three bolt .30-06s. Which one...

Dang, I guess the Model 70 .30-06.

Good choice Bird Dog. Mine is also a .30-06 but it is a Remington 700. My Marlin 336 .30-30 is right there with it. Aw heck, I really can't decide between the two.

I have a Remington 700 bdl in 30-06. This is my fovorite rifle. I have owned it over 20 years. Every time I pick it up, I recall deer and coyotes that have sucommed to it.

As most of you, I like all of the calibers I own, but my all time favorite is the .280 Remington. I've taken Deer, Antelope, Elk, Bear, Exotics and a lot of African game with that caliber. Currently, I am using Federal Vital Shok with Nosler 160gr Accubonds. Has performed very well on African game, even the larger Antelope. Good hunting, grayghost

That's a "trick" question.
My favorite hunting rifle, over time,is the Springfield Krag.It is,by far,a much better hunter then I am.
Now,I'm a little older, and it's kinda heavy to tote.I do my hunting with a handy dandy Winny '94 carbine.
As far as "fun shooting"is concerned, the little 30 Carbine is more fun then any thing I know of.

This one is easy. Remington Mod. 700 stainless 26" barrel in .264 Win Mag. It may be a little large for squirrels or bull frogs...lol, but it seems to work just fine on anything else that I have pointed it at. If I had to only have one rifle, the .264 Win Mag is the one that I will have.

Dad's sporterized 1917 Remington Enfield in 30-06 A.I. Weaver K2.5 with a Varmintmaster 6X adapter and King Pike mounts. It'll still shoot better than I can hold it. Yes that's real ivory inlay in the forend too. (old piano keys) :D

1903 Springfield dated 12 12 (that's December 1912) hands down.

My grandfather's service rifle in WWII (he was not in a combat position). Issued to him new in the cosmoline, never used to kill a human (he claimed many small game and I've used it for 3 deer). Unmodified, with the original sights, stock and sling. It is a singly prized heirloom now that my grandfather has passed on. Someday I will pass it on to the grandson that understands it most.

That is a hard one to answer since the rifles that I choose for differant purposes.

Favorite heavy woods gun is a Marlin 1895G 45-70 as a do all lever action in the thick woods. I had been using a Marlin 336, 30-30 in the woods prior to this, and still enjoy this rifle.

Favorite for long range open or prairie hunting my good ol Ruger M77 MKII all weather 30-06 this of course may change if I add a .300 Win Mag or .338 Win Mag to the collection.

Favorite BPCR rifle is my 1876 Remington Rolling Block in 45-90

So you see I have differant Favorites for their intended uses :D

Very early ('60s) Rem. 700 ADL in 30-06. It now has a laminated stock and Leupold M8 4X (fixed) scope. It has been accurized by Hill Country Rifles (TX).

I have several other lever guns and boltguns but this is the core of my hunting guns.

A Winchester M70 Featherweight (USRA made) in .270 Win with a Leupold 3X9X50 Vari-XII on it. It has the original wooden stock that I refinished and bedded. Bought it in the early 80's when it first came out.

We've killed a lot of deer together and it understands me. We just bond when the chips are down. I had a Sako and a Ruger that I let go. Still have a 336 in 35Rem and a custom Arisaka in the safe but most of the time the Win gets the nod.

I see a lot of folks posting a favorite rifle and cartridge that is interesting to see. My facorite Rifle is the Ruger #1. I have 3 now. My first was a Ruger #1 safari grade in 375 H&H Magnum. I fell in love with the stock before I knew the calibre. My next was a Standard grade in .308. Lots of meat on the table with this rifle. And the latest addition was the #1V in stainless with the laminated stock in Ruger .204 This rifle fired sub MOA groups straight out of the box! It has a Mueller 8.5x25 by 80 scope on it and the little .204 round is devastating on small fur bearing critters. I had a shot at a "dog" at 355 yards and he dropped like a rock.

By far my all time favorite rifles are Rugers and the Number 1 takes the lead

Since all of my rifles were stolen about 6 years ago. I had to start over and build loyalty in the new ones.

My favorite rifle is an old Sako hunter style stock in 243 with a 26" Shilen barrel and Chandler three postion safety. I put a 4.5-15 Zeiss on top and lightened the trigger. It has an oiled finished stock and I put a one inch decelerator pad on to give the stock a little more length.
Some nimrod was trading it in to buy a new 243 WSSM for more velocity.
Can you believe that!
I have bonded with this rifle, and it is perfect for the kind of game I hunt ( deer, pigs, coyotes etc) With 95 grain partitions the accuracy is all I could ask for.

For shotgunning and dove hunting, a 20 gauge Wingmaster
fits the bill, (need I say more). For ducks and geese, a Beretta Extreme in 3 1/2" chamber is perfect.
I have only 8 rifles and two shotguns. That's all I want.

Baikal MP 153 12 guage. A real workhorse...not pretty, but the most reliable gun I have ever owned. Has killed more than it's share of ducks, geese, cranes, pheasants, turkeys, crows, and even a Mule Deer with a rifled slug.! Still need to get a quail with it before I retire it. Too bad there are no quail left in Kansas.

We have plenty of waterfoul around here also. The Neosho and Cottonwood rivers come together about 4 miles from me and there have been times that I have popped over the back of a pond dam and not been able to see the water for the ducks or geese. When we have wheat planted next to the house, you could hunt from my bedroom window!

Man...this is tough. I will cast my vote for my dads Rem 721 30/06. It has a beautiful oil stained satin finish, and it is endowed with an incredibly accurate 24" Douglass premium barrel. It also has Bueler rings and bases and a Leupold vx2 3x9, with an old, well oiled military sling. That rifle will shoot 1/2 inch groups and it is part of my family. It has character and it will forever remind me of my father. Wish i could put a picture of it on here someday...
