I have a new 1895s 45 70 and it will not eject live ammo when trying to unload it. All stock factory ammo.
Does anyone have any advise?
I took apart and cleaned it and looked for any defects but do not notice any?
It could be the ejector. Take the action out and pull out the ejector and see if anything looks wrong with it and clean it. Put it back in and try again. Getting another ejector isn't any big deal. And neither is the installation. It is real simple. You could get one through cabelas for $25 called the Wild West Bear Proof Ejector. I have one in mine and it is like a garage door spring and spits that brass out nicely.

The ejector could be broken or missing. It fits in the groove in the left side of the bolt raceway. The little stud goes in the hole on the left side of the receiver. See the picture. If you're in Canada order a new one, if needed, from Western Gun Parts in Edmonton or Saskatoon Gunsmith Shoppe.

Hi:
took apart about five times and noticed that the ejector was catching the bottom of the cartridge just by a hair so i took it out and filed down about three passes with a flat file and now it works everytime.

If you filed the ejector I would definitely consider getting a new one. If you are going to hunt with the rifle or use it for defence.
