Has anyone here ever used these? I have been into guns and hunting for many decades, and somehow I never even heard of these before. They look like a great idea if they really work, that is if the scope returns to zero after being flipped and flipped back.
Any experience shared would be greatly appreciated.

Mr. Tide,
I have a Pachmeyer Low-Swing mount that does just this. I bought and had it installed about 1975. I've never had a difficulty with it. It is, perhaps, a little stiffer to swing out of the way than you might expect, but it does go back to zero every time. My iron sights are set at 25 yards, and my scope at 100 yards. I think I paid $65 plus installation back then.....more than I paid for my scope.

I put them on for several customers in Alaska. It was to allow them quick use of iron sights for close up encounters with big meat eaters. They usually came back to be replaced with fixed rings after being shot a while.
Everyone whom thought this a good idea found they never were very accurate and recoil resistant. Better would be a set of quick detachable rings that hold their zero when removed and replaced. Leupold sells them along with several other brands.

El Lobo,
No need to be so formal, you can call me Roll. :D What size gun is your low swing setup on? Do you shoot it a lot?
Thanks
FaucettB,
Thanks for the info. I want to ability to use my iron sights for snap shots as well. I have considered the quick detach setup, but they seem much more expensive and not nearly as convenient as the pivot mount. I will give your advice some serious consideration in light of your past experience. I hear some that say they have worked great for years, and others say they don't.
Any other input would be greatly appreciated.

Roll all the guns I installed the Weaver pivot mounts were magnums in the 300, 338 and 375 versions. These guns have high recoil and don't tolerate those pivot mounts very well. They may work fine on a low recoiling gun such as a 243 or 257 Roberts.

I had them on a 30 -06 for many years and never had any problem, pivoted them off for rainy foggy faster use..
just got some more a few months ago and did not use them on the cowboy 45 70...I think I can find them, but they are available, I do beleive...
I would not be afraid to use them, I would install them carefully, though and they returned to zero for me for years on end..sold the gun with them on it..
