I just spent a weekend in Maine, I must say I was impressed. I was there for a soccer tournament and we moved out on our down time. We were in Scarborough. Great fishing, great hunting all within an hour. What a great place! The funny part is that it is less than 2 hours from home. **** I travel more than that to hunt in my own state. Maybe next year! Maine is great i worked with a guy that grew up a little north ofBanger Maine one bad thing he always told me was the tAXES Taxes taxes taxes , but great huning and fishing !!!!!!!

I went to college in Unity, Maine... if for some reason I couldn't live in Montana, that would be my home. After hunting in Montana, Maine has very scarce deer, but not nearly as scarce as New Hampshire. I have lots of friends still in that area, and my roommate for a couple years is from Bridgewater, NH. His dad used to tell me that they had hunted hard for more than 20 years in the woods there and never seen a deer during the season. I told him to come out to MT and we would get a 24" wide Mule deer or better within a week.

My father lives in Maine, I often Grouse with him in the fall.
Deer seem to be plentiful too, on the trails and wood we partol.

I grew up in Maine , Greenville area . Unless things have drastically changed since I left for civilization all you had to do was plant a garden and you had a nearly daily battle with deer, moose and bear . Go where the food is and you'll find the wildlife.

Too bad the deer aren't as plentiful as the ME black flies. Makes me itch just thinking about it.
