For my 36th birthday my father gave me a Marlin Model 39 .22. He believes he bought this in 1951 and has had it since. I learned to shoot on this rifle & it has great sentimental value, but I don't know a whole lot about it. Can anyon tell me a little about what the possible time periods of its construction or anything? I would GREATLY appreicate it...Thank you!...Terry from Hillsboro, OR

Welcome to the forum.

I'll bet you could call Marlin and they'll be able to tell you exactly when it was made... :)

It's the longest running firearm manufactured in the world. The design goes back over 125 years. It's priceless because of it's history. Congrats on having your childhood gun. Grizz

Welcome to the board, sayret - think you'll like it here.

It's a shame the old Marlin Talks website was removed by Marlin. It had loads of info on Marlin firearms by member contributors, including dates of manufacture by serial number. Found my old Model 39 was made in 1937 and has great value to me, as that's my birth date.

If you Google Marlin Firearms and send an email to their website, chances are they will be able to help you.

Go to rimfire central in the Marlin forum it will tell when it was made or close to the year it was made.
